TARBORO, N.C.(WNCN) — Tarboro police are looking for a man they say was involved in deadly shooting on Sunday afternoon.

The incident happened around 5:30 p.m. Pender Square Apartments at 500 Benson Drive in Tarboro.

Police said that a “disturbance” escalated into a shooting that killed a 30-year-old man.

Reginald “Reggie” Alston suffered several gunshot wounds and died at the scene while he was being given first aid, police said in an email.

“As the investigation developed, the primary suspect was identified as 20-year-old Darius Juwan Council,” police said, who added he is wanted for first-degree murder charges

Several efforts to track down Council were unsuccessful, however, police said.

Police said Sunday that “initial evidence suggests that those involved knew each other and that this is an isolated incident.”

Anyone with information regarding the shooting or Council’s whereabouts is asked  to contact the Tarboro Police Department at 252-641-4247.
