STATESVILLE, N.C. (WBTV) — A Georgia man accused of sexually assaulting a teen in Iredell County is facing multiple charges.
The alleged victim filed a report against 43-year-old Dalton Smallwood, who she said sexually assaulted her when she was 14 years old. The offenses reportedly happened between April and August of 2012.
According to the report, Smallwood, who lives in Georgia, met the girl at a church in Iredell County. Smallwood faces similar previous charges in Rowan County.
“During the investigation, it was determined that Smallwood had met with the victim at different locations in Southern Iredell County when the sexual activity took place,” Iredell County deputies say.
Warrants were obtained for Smallwood after the investigation.
Smallwood was charged with six counts of statutory rape/sex offense and one count of indecent liberties with a child.
He was served the charges in Iredell County and placed under a $1 million bond.
He is currently being held at the Rowan County Detention Center, where he is being investigated for allegations involving the same victim.
In two cases Smallwood allegedly made a video depicting a sex act between himself and a minor. The alleged victim also provided investigators with a diary documenting the relationship.
