DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — The family of a teen who finally got a cancer treatment when state officials reversed their position on coverage for the procedure has posted an update on his progress.
Hunter Pietrowski, 13, has received his treatment and is at home, his mother said in a recent post.
Tiffany Pietrowski described being overwhelmed with gratitude for the support the family has received from friends, family and people on Facebook.
“Our baby boy received his stem cells and is doing excellent, and the sheer brightness in his eyes as he got in the car to go home today just melted my heart,” she wrote.
The family also posted several photos.
