MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – The Morrisville Town Council voted on Tuesday to approve new voting districts for elections in the next few years.
The town chose to adopt Map Option 1, which is closest to the average population. According to the earlier drafts, major roads act as a break between districts and neighborhoods are not split.
The town is not required to revise the maps until 2020 but found the results of a special census that the population increased which made some districts “out-of-balance”, according to Morrisville officials.
The maps will go to Wake County officials and are expected to be in effect for the 2017 elections.
