Woman arrested after 18-pound pot package found in Fayetteville

EVERGREEN, N.C. (WECT) — A Columbus County woman was arrested after she signed for a package containing 18 pounds of marijuana.

According to officials, the package was intercepted at a distribution center in Fayetteville.

The package was then delivered to a residence in the 3000 block of Macedonia Church Road in the Evergreen community of Columbus County.

Raelynn Smith, 24, reportedly signed for it and after the delivery was completed, authorities executed a search warrant at the home.

Authorities seized the package and took Smith into custody.

She was charged with trafficking marijuana, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, and maintaining a dwelling for a controlled substance.

Smith was given a $60,000 bond.
