PITTSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) – A Creedmoor man has been charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of his stepfather in Pittsboro on Tuesday, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office said.
Mickey Bryant Hicks, 48, has been charged with felony first-degree murder in the death of Warren Ray Barnes, 72, of Pittsboro.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a home at 110 Andres Store Road on Tuesday and found Barnes injured and in need of medical attention. He was transported to UNC Hospital where he later died from his injuries.
Hicks was arrested and charged with his stepfather’s murder. He is currently being held in the Chatham County Detention Center under no bond.
His first court appearance is set for Nov. 14 in Chatham County Court.
The investigation is ongoing and officials have not released any other information.
