Off-duty officer’s gun, service belt stolen from NC Walmart parking lot

HICKORY, N.C. (WNCN) – An off-duty officer had her service belt and weapon stolen Monday when her personal vehicle was broken into in a Walmart parking lot in Hickory.

According to investigators, the officer stopped at the store along Highway 70 Monday evening and left her service belt in the vehicle.

While she was inside, investigators say someone broke into her vehicle and stole the service belt. It had a Glock 17, two magazines of ammunition, pepper spray and handcuffs on the belt.

According to investigators, the officer left the vehicle unlocked while she was shopping.

An investigation is underway.

The officer’s name has not been released.
