CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) — Investigators from the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office are asking the public for help identifying a wig-wearing robber who struck Thursday at a First Citizens Bank at 53 Chatham Downs Drive.

UPDATE: Authorities arrest armed woman wearing wig who robbed Chapel Hill bank

Deputies said the robber was white and wearing a blond wig. The robber was wearing a dark-colored jacket, possibly black or blue, they said.

Deputies also said the robber may be armed, though no one was hurt during the robbery.

Deputies haven’t said whether the robber is a man or a woman. A release from the Sheriff’s Office referred to the robber as an “unknown suspect,” and didn’t use any gendered words to describe the person.

A sheriff’s office spokeswoman said an initial report didn’t specify a gender or sex for the robber, so she was unable to provide any further information.

Anyone with information that might help investigators should contact the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office at 919-545-8195.
