CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. (WBTV) – In North Carolina, these are selfies that were taken by voters who had just cast a ballot in Cabarrus County. The county put in the selfie station for voters to enjoy, and it also serves the purpose of preventing selfies being taken inside the voting booth, which is illegal in North Carolina if you show a completed ballot.

selfie-1  We saw lots of folks having fun with it, even NASCAR driver Mike Wallace. County leaders say people seem to enjoy it.

“We’ve seen a lot of people posting their photos to Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and they’re using the #CabCoVotes, which is what we want to see. The whole purpose is really to encourage early voting and that’s why you’re only going to see these selfie stations at the 4 early voting locations in Cabarrus County.”
