NC man arrested in shooting that injured 7-year-old girl

WILMINGTON, N.C. (WECT) – Wilmington police have arrested a man in connection to a shooting last week that injured a 7-year-old girl.

According to officials, Anthony Mikhail Andrews, 20, of Wilmington was taken into custody Saturday and charged with discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Andrews was given a $750,000 bond.

The incident happened around 3:30 p.m. Thursday near the New Hanover Village Apartments off Buckingham Avenue. Witnesses told police they saw two men using a gun in a dispute and several shots were fired.

Police said one of the apartments was hit during the gunfire. A 7-year-old girl sustained minor injuries due to flying glass from a mirror that was shattered by a bullet.

No other injuries were reported.

Police officials said they’re still looking for another man in connection to the shooting.
