Man charged with robbery, kidnapping on the run in Fayetteville after destroying monitoring unit

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) – Fayetteville police are asking for the public’s help in locating a man who is on the run and wanted for destroying his monitoring device while on pretrial release.


Police are looking for Wilbert Diez Elliott, 21, who was on pretrial release for robbery with a dangerous weapon and second-degree kidnapping charges after being arrested on July 26, police said.

Elliott was wearing an electronic monitoring device as part of his pretrial release conditions. He disabled and destroyed the unit on Oct. 31. The last known location of the 21-year-old was 1100 block of Lucerne Street in Fayetteville.

Elliott should be considered armed and dangerous. The police department is encouraging family and friends of Elliott to have him surrender.

Anyone with information regarding the whereabouts of Wilbert Elliott is asked to call 911 or Crimestoppers at (910) 483-TIPS (8477).
