Minimum security inmate missing from NC prison training center

Update: Authorities announced Wednesday evening that Kee had been captured at a home in Stanly County.

ROXBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — State corrections officials are searching for a minimum-security inmate missing from a training center.

State corrections officials have said that Jonathan Kee, 34, left the center Wednesday, but are not yet releasing any details about how he left the center.

Kee was one of about 100 inmates from the Dan River Prison Work Farm in Yanceyville who attend classes daily at the Roxboro Satellite Training Center, which is on the site of a former state prison, according to officials. Educational classes and substance abuse treatment classes are held at the center.

Kee was serving a four-year sentence after being convicted of possession of a firearm by a felon and drug-related offenses, according to the state Department of Public Safety. He was due for release in August 2018, officials said.
