NC teens charged after AR-style rifle fired during robbery of $25 of pot, deputies say

SPRING HOPE, N.C. (WNCN) — Two teens were nabbed after one fired an AR-style rifle into a car and shot a victim when they robbed him of $25 worth of marijuana on Wednesday, the Nash County Sheriff’s Office said.

The incident happened around noon at a home in the 4140 Block of Macedonia Road, Spring Hope, deputies said in a press release.

Officials were first called to the scene about “shots fired” and both suspects were found there when deputies arrived.

“A thorough investigation was conducted and it was revealed that … both suspects robbed the victim of approximately $25 of marijuana,” deputies said.

“During the robbery, Kendall Coley, 17, allegedly fired an AR-style rifle at the vehicle that the victim was in striking the victim in the hand,” deputies added.

Malik Braswell, 19, and Coley are both facing several charges in the incident, including robbery with a dangerous weapon, conspiracy to commit robbery with a dangerous weapon.

Coley received a bond of $600,000 and Braswell received a bond of $200,000.
