SALISBURY, N.C. (WBTV) – One person is dead after an officer involved shooting in Salisbury Thursday morning, according to the Salisbury Police Department.
According to police, officers went to the home along the 600-block of E Lafayette Street in Salisbury around 9:25 a.m. to serve a “no-knock” search warrant.
“The warrant was to search for narcotics, weapons and stolen property,” Salisbury police said. “The Special Response Team was used to serve the warrant because the suspects in the home were known to be armed.”
When officers entered the home, one person fired at least one shot at officers and multiple officers returned fire, according to police. The person was rushed to the hospital and died from their injuries. WBTV has learned officers were not hurt in the incident.
