CHAPEL HILL, N.C. (WNCN) – The Orange County Sheriff’s Office arrested one man and are searching for another after 3 kilograms of cocaine were found in a car following a Chapel Hill traffic stop, officials said.
The sheriff’s office was conducting a narcotics investigation on Thursday when they received “reliable information” that a red Infiniti coupe in the area of N.C. Highway 86 and Old N.C. Highway 10 was transporting a “large quantity of cocaine.”
Deputies located the car and conducted a stop for a traffic violation at A.L. Stanback Middle School. During the stop, deputies found the cocaine inside and arrested Jose Ignacio Alonzo at the scene, authorities said.
The investigation identified a second suspect who was able to evade arrest following the traffic stop.
Police do not have the name of the man they’re looking for.
