BURLINGTON, N.C. (CNN) — An open carry group is standing guard at a North Carolina Republican office that was vandalized
The “Alamance County Open Carry” group is standing at the county Republican Party Headquarters after it was vandalized Friday morning.
The group says they are standing up for their First Amendment rights while exercising their Second Amendment right.
“It’s respect thing. That’s what this country needs. It needs respect back. Respect for one another. Respect for law enforcement. Respect for our constitution,” one member said.
This is the second time in less than a month that a Republican Party headquarters in North Carolina has been vandalized.
“I’m kind of grateful. Not that anything’s going to happen. I don’t expect anything to happen. It’s the thought that counts. They want to guard our freedoms. And I think that’s nice,” a member said.
The GOP headquarters in Alamance County was found vandalized Friday morning with the words “F*** Trump YESSIR” written on a wall outside and “NA” spray-painted on the front door.
On Oct. 16, the Orange County Republican Party headquarters in Hillsborough was vandalized with graffiti and damaged with a flammable material thrown through the front window.
