SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) — On Saturday, a funeral was held in Southern Pines for a young girl killed in a drive-by shooting.
Just a week after 12-year-old Jalinda Campbell was shot and killed while sitting on a front porch in the middle of the day, her family and friends gathered to remember her.
Hundreds were in attendance at the girl’s funeral.
People comforted each other and spoke about the impact Campbell had on their lives.
“My precious angel, Jalinda, I feel like that I should be sitting where you are. Because I know that your hearts are heavy, because mine is heavy,” one mourner said.
Police arrested and charged Montice Tyree McManus, 16, of Southern Pines with murder and assault with a deadly weapon for the crime.
