LARGO, Fla. (WFLA) — A Largo man suffered bite wounds to his face and hands after deputies say his ex-girlfriend ordered her pit bull to attack him.
Shelly Lynn Reynolds, 54, of Largo was charged with aggravated battery with a deadly weapon in connection with the attack.
Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office deputies say they responded to a home on 126th Terrace in Largo at 11:15 p.m. Friday.
Reynolds and her ex-boyfriend live at the home as roommates. Deputies say Reynolds and her ex-boyfriend were arguing when Reynolds hit him several times with her open hand, then threw a bag of garbage at him, striking him in the leg.
Reynolds then ordered her pit bull, who is named “Corporal” to attack her ex-boyfriend, deputies say. Deputies say the pit bull responded to Reynold’s commands and bit her ex-boyfriend on the lips, nose and right hand. The attack happened in the ex-boyfriend’s bedroom.
Deputies say after the attack, Reynolds grabbed her ex-boyfriend by the front of his shirt and told him, “You better corroborate my story,” in an attempt to get him to lie to deputies.
When deputies went to take Reynolds into custody, she refused and deputies say they had to force her to the ground to handcuff her, they say.
Reynolds was booked into the Pinellas County Jail on charges of felony battery, aggravated battery with a deadly weapon, tampering with a witness and resisting an officer without violence, deputies said. Bail was set at $25,150.
