NEW YORK (AP/CBS News) – New York City police say a woman standing on a subway platform was pushed to her death in front of an oncoming train.
Police say it happened early Monday afternoon at the Times Square subway station.
They say another woman pushed the 46-year-old victim in front of a southbound No. 1 train.
Police say witnesses flagged down two police officers standing on the platform and the suspect was apprehended.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
Police were looking at video surveillance to determine what led to the attack.
Within moments of the deadly push, police took a 30-year-old woman into custody.
Sources say the woman and the victim had some type of interaction before the push.
Witnesses were being interviewed to determine if there was a dispute. But, it doesn’t appear the two women knew each other.
Last year a woman was convicted and sentenced to 24 years imprisonment for fatally pushing a man into the path of an oncoming New York subway train in 2012.
