Cab driver found dead next to Raleigh college after being shot

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was shot and killed across the street from Saint Augustine’s University in Raleigh on Tuesday evening, police say.

The incident was reported at about 6:20 p.m. at 432 Hill Street, which is listed as Universal Cab Company and is directly across the street from St. Augustine’s campus.

When police arrived, officers found a man outside who had suffered at least one gunshot wound.

Nwabu Cyril Efobi, 56, was pronounced dead at the scene, police said.

Efobi was a cab driver for the Universal Cab Company, Raleigh police said.

He was found outside of his vehicle.

Homicide detectives are currently investigating the death.
