KNIGHTDALE, N.C. (WNCN) — A Knightdale woman’s boyfriend shot and wounded the father of the woman’s children in an incident late Saturday morning, police say.
The shooting was reported around 11:25 a.m. at a home 911 Ballast Street, Knightdale Police said in an email.
Knightdale Police say that Lee Harris Jr., 34, was visiting the home on Ballast Street, which is the home of his current girlfriend.
“Harris and the female resident were inside when 34-year-old Alcalvin Rogers came to the home,” police said.
Rogers, who had previously fathered children with the female resident, arrived at the home just before the shooting was reported, according to police.
“Police learned that Rogers severed the electrical power to the residence and began banging on the door,” police said. “Inside, Harris responded by opening the door and firing on Rogers with a revolver.”
Rogers was rushed to a nearby hospital and Harris was detained for questioning.
“Investigators say they are still working to determine Rogers’ true motives for coming to the residence of his children’s mother, and those findings may result in criminal charges against Rogers,” police said.
Police said that Harris was charged with possession of a firearm by a felon.
Later Saturday afternoon, officials said Harris was also charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.
