CBS North Carolina’s Sean Maroney wins ‘News Anchor of the Year’

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – CBS North Carolina’s Sean Maroney was awarded “News Anchor of the Year” by RTDNAC.

Radio Television Digital News Association of the Carolinas hosted their 2016 awards banquet Saturday in Charlotte where Maroney was named best anchor in North and South Carolina.

Maroney said he was humbled by the award but grateful to share the moment with his parents.

Maroney anchors CBS North Carolina’s news at 5, 6 and 11 p.m. during the week.

CBS North Carolina took second place in two other categories.

Photographer Lauren DesArmo took second place in the “TV News Photographer of the Year” category.

In the Health-Medicine category, Amy Cutler, Lauren DesArmo, David Hattman won second place for their “Franklin Medical Center Closing: A Community in Need” story.
