SOUTHERN PINES, N.C. (WNCN) — The father of a 3-year-old boy shot during a drive-by that killed a 12-year-old girl in October is now facing charges, Southern Pines police said.
Tyquan Markeez Graham, 18, of Southern Pines, has been charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon and discharging a firearm within city limits.
Jalinda Campbell, 12, and Kyleigh Graham, 3, were sitting on a porch outside the apartment where they both lived when the shooting happened on Oct. 28, according to police. The shooting took place at about 3:49 p.m. at 714 West Michigan Ave., police said.
Police said the shooting was not random and people at the home knew the shooter. Police also said the investigation revealed that the drive-by shooting had an intended target, but both victims were innocent bystanders.
Graham is accused of firing his gun within city limits. Police would not say if Graham fired back at the shooter or what the circumstances surrounding his charges are.
The shooter has been identified as 16-year-old Montice McManus. He has been charged with the murder of Campbell and also faces an assault with a deadly weapon charge. He’s in jail without bond.
Police also charged 20-year old Malik Crawford with accessory after the fact. He’s being held on a $300,000 bond.
