Police K-9 catches teen armed robbery suspect, Goldsboro Police say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Goldsboro police K-9 caught an armed robbery suspect on Friday, police said Monday.

The incident happened on Friday around 10:45 p.m. at 905 South Slocumb Street, Goldsboro police said in an email.

The victim told police that two men robbed him at gunpoint and took his money and iPhone.

A while later, police said the suspects were back at the same location on South Slocumb Street.

As police arrived, one of the suspects tried to run and tossed his gun while running, police said.

Police K-9 Kezna helped catch the suspect and authorities were able to recover the victim’s money and iPhone.

Aaron Smith, 17, and Terrencio Kornegay, 16, were charged in the case, police said.

Smith was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of a stolen firearm, possession of a firearm by a minor, simple possession of schedule VI and resist, delay, obstruct an officer.

Kornegay was charged with robbery with a dangerous weapon, possession of stolen property and simple possession of schedule VI.
