Fayetteville man in critical condition after being hit by vehicle, police say

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – A Fayetteville man is hospitalized in critical condition after being struck by a vehicle as he crossed a street Tuesday evening, police said.

Investigators believe Jeremy Karpinecz, 45, of the 500 block of Lumberly Lane in Fayetteville, was crossing Owen Drive when he was hit by a 2002 Mitsubishi driven by LaShawn Peterson, 57, of the 3600 block of Rockhurst Drive in Fayetteville, according to Fayetteville police.

Police received word of the collision, which took place near the intersection of Owen and Village drives, at about 6:42 p.m.

Karpinecz was taken to Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, police said.
