SPRING LAKE, N.C. (AP) — The mother of a Spring Lake alderwoman has been accused of selling cocaine from her home, which is near two schools.
The Fayetteville Observer reports that 69-year-old Mary Rogers Stroud is facing multiple charges after authorities say she sold cocaine on Oct. 28 and Oct. 31 from her home. The residence is within 1,000 feet of Spring Lake Middle School and Manchester Elementary School.
Stroud is the mother of longtime Spring Lake Alderwoman Fredericka Sutherland.
Police filed the charges following a three-month-long undercover investigation.
The newspaper was unable to reach Sutherland, who is currently serving in her sixth term as an alderwoman on the Spring Lake board.
It is unclear whether Stroud has an attorney.
