RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — What appeared to be a brush fire broke out along I-440 near Poole Road on Saturday afternoon.

The fire was reported around 5:34 p.m.  The blaze was along the inner lanes of I-440 on the southern side of Poole Road.

Three Raleigh fire units responded to the scene: Engines 10, 11 and 12.

Firefighters don’t have a definitive cause, but believe the fire started by a discarded cigarette or something similar, officials said.

The blaze took about 10 minutes to put out and was contained to the area around the exit.
