The incident happened in the early morning hours on Thursday at the Coor’s  Bait and Tackle Shop at 298 Spring Bank Road in Goldsboro, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office said.

Deputies said that there was a breaking and entering and that the fire, which destroyed the shop, was suspicious.

On Thursday night, deputies made a traffic stop on Potts Road in Dudley and searched the vehicle after they were given permission, officials said in an email on Saturday.

(The search) “led to them finding boxes of ammunition that was consistent with items that had been taken from Coor’s Bait and Tackle,” deputies said.

” A passenger in the vehicle, Matthew Eubanks, was developed as a person of interest and was transported to the Wayne County Sheriff’s Annex,” deputies added.

Eubanks, 20, of Slick Rock Road in Goldsboro was charged with breaking and entering,  larceny after breaking and entering and felony unlawful burning.

Eubanks was held on a $35,000 bond.

The owner of the bait shop, Molly Coors, said she won’t rebuild the business.  No one was hurt.
