WAKE FOREST, N.C. (WNCN) — With less than a week left until Thanksgiving, some families still don’t know how they’ll get a meal on the table.
The Wake Forest Police Department hopes to help with that.
Saturday morning, officials held a “Turkey Drive” at police headquarters.
Car after car rolled through the parking lot with people dropping off their donations.
One woman says it’s the least she can do.
“We think it’s responsible that we help people who need help. We’re glad to do it, we just wish we could do more,” said Jan Ellis of Wake Forest.
Wake Forest police said later that they collected 201 turkeys, which is a record for the 10 years of the event.
