Goldsboro teen charged after man shot in leg, police say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Goldsboro teen was charged Tuesday in the shooting of another man last week, police said.

The victim was shot in the leg on Thursday at the entrance to Day Circle, Goldsboro Police said in an email.

The victim, Maurice Butler, had been transported to the Wayne Memorial Hospital by a personal vehicle.

Police said they found a possible suspect “a short time later.”

Upon further investigation, a warrant was secured on Antwan Hamilton for one count of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury,” police said.

Hamilton, 18, of the 900 block of Sixth Street was taken into custody Tuesday at the intersection of James and Riway streets, according to police.

Hamilton is being held on a $350,000 bond at the Wayne County Detention Center.

His first court appearance is scheduled for Wednesday.
