Second suspect arrested in October murder of Fayetteville dad

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Fayetteville police have made a second arrest in the Oct. 16 murder of a Fayetteville father, police said Wednesday.

Brenton Victor Nottingham, 31, of the 5400 block of Wichita Drive, was arrested and charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, and felony conspiracy in connection with the murder of Karlos Bembury.

Bembury, 42, was shot and killed as he stepped out of his shower at his Blayne Lane home at about 5:25 a.m. on Oct. 16, police said.

A woman in the home was not hurt in the shooting.

Police arrested a Fayetteville man on Oct. 29 and charged him with murder in the death of Bembury, who was a father.

Keyelle Luavee Hassell, 34, of the 5400 block of Wichita Drive, is charged with first-degree murder, robbery with a dangerous weapon, felonious conspiracy, and possession with the intent to sell/deliver cocaine and marijuana.

Police are still searching for a woman, 31-year-old Irish Moulden, who is wanted for questioning in Bembury’s murder.

Moulden currently has outstanding warrants for arrest for possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver cocaine, possession with intent to manufacture/sell/deliver marijuana, felony maintaining a dwelling, conspiracy to sell or deliver cocaine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police are asking Moulden’s friends and family to encourage her to surrender.

Authorities did not say what role they believe Moulden may have had in the murder.

As for Nottingham, he was arrested Tuesday night and has been processed at the Cumberland County Detention Center. He is being held without bond.

Detectives are continuing to investigate the fatal shooting.
