Man killed after truck runs off the road, slams into a tree in Johnston County

PRINCETON, N.C. (WNCN) — A man was killed in a single-vehicle crash in Johnston County Thursday night, the North Carolina State Highway Patrol said.

According to troopers, Christopher Lee Parrish, 39, of Kenly, was driving his 2005 Chevrolet pickup truck on Princeton Kenly Road near Sunshine Road when the crash happened.

Officials said Parrish ran off the road in a curve, overcorrected, crossed the center line, overcorrected again and then ran off the road and hit a ditch before slamming into a tree.

Parrish was estimated to be driving at approximately 85 mph in a 55 mph zone.

Parrish was declared dead at the scene. He was not wearing a seat belt, officials said.
