1 dead, another airlifted after NC pickup truck crash

BLADENBORO, N.C. (WECT) — Emergency crews and State Highway Patrol officials responded to the scene of a fatal accident in Bladenboro Friday afternoon.

According to Director of Bladen Emergency Services Bradley Kinlaw, the accident happened around 4 p.m. off of NC-131 and Old Abbottsburg Road involving one vehicle.

The vehicle was traveling northbound on NC-131, crossed the center line and collided with a ditch, according to Trooper McVicker with the State Highway Patrol.

One person died as a result of the crash and another was flown to New Hanover Regional Medical Center with serious injuries.

Officials do not believe that speed or alcohol were involved in the accident.
