GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A teen was arrested after two firearms were among nearly $6,000 worth of items stolen from a Goldsboro home recently, police said.
The home in the 1400 block of North Berkeley Blvd was broken into on Nov. 19 and a semiautomatic handgun and a rifle were among several items stolen, Goldsboro Police said in an email.
According to officials, $5,790 worth of property was stolen during the home burglary.
On Thanksgiving Day, the victim contacted police and told them about the possible location of some of the stolen items.
“Officers investigated this information and were able to locate the location of some of the property,” police said.
Police managed to recover about $4,000 worth of items that were originally stolen.
Christopher Kiandra Barnes, 18, of the 1500 block of Scotty Drive in Goldsboro was charged with felony breaking and entering, felony larceny after breaking and entering, felony possession of stolen goods, two counts of larceny of firearm and two counts of possession of firearm by convicted felon, police said.
Barnes was sentenced to probation in September after he was convicted for felony breaking and entering that happened in Forsyth County in 2015, according to the North Carolina Department of Corrections website.
Before that, Barnes was also sentenced to probation in Dec. 2014 after a felony common law robbery conviction for an April 2014 offense, the records indicate.
Barnes is being held on a $100,000 secured bond at the Wayne County Jail.
His first court appearance is scheduled for Monday.
