Raleigh man found shot to death in Durham motel room

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — A person died after a shooting at an extended-stay motel in Durham on Sunday night.

The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. at Crossland Economy Studios in the 5000 block of N.C. Highway 55, Durham police said in an email.

“Upon arrival, the officers located a deceased male inside a hotel room with an apparent gunshot wound,” police said.

On Monday afternoon, police identified the victim as George Beamon, 50, of Raleigh.

A follow-up investigation is underway, police said.

Police did not release any information on suspects or the circumstances that led to the shooting.
