Motorcyclist dies in single-vehicle crash in Raleigh

RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Cary man died in a motorcycle crash on Western Boulevard in Raleigh on Sunday evening.

The crash happened around 6:40 p.m. near the intersection of South Boylan Avenue.

The motorcycle was the only vehicle involved, Raleigh Police said. Peter Traylor, 49, of 216 Farmington Woods Drive in Cary, was riding his Harley-Davidson along Western Boulevard when he veered off the road, hit a curb and slid into a tree, according to a police crash report.

Western Boulevard’s westbound lanes were closed until 10 p.m. between South Boylan Avenue and the vicinity of North Carolina Central Prison.
