RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — An Athens Drive High School teacher was suspended after he was charged last week with a “sex act with a student,” officials say.
Devon Lategan, 29, is facing the charge in connection with his time teaching in Henderson County, according to authorities.
The Henderson County Sheriff’s Office tells CBS North Carolina that a warrant to arrest Devon Lategan, of 129 Warm Wood Lane in Apex, was obtained after a long investigation.
According to arrest records, the sex act happened in June.
The sheriff’s office said Lategan used to teach at West Henderson High School.
Lategan began teaching science at Athens Drive on Aug. 19, Wake County school officials said.
Lategan was suspended with pay on Tuesday pending the investigation, according to Wake County school officials.
His bond has been set at $50,000.
