Pinehurst Police said the call came in at 3:55 p.m. at the First Citizens Bank at 40 Page Drive.

Officials said the suspect, who in surveillance images was seen wearing a black Northface jacket, round sunglasses and a dark hat, passed a note to the teller demanding money.

Pinehurst Police Chief Earl Phipps said his officers are working with the FBI and Fayetteville Police Department.

Fayetteville Police reported a First Citizens Bank was robbed hours earlier on Monday by a man wearing similar sunglasses and black jacket.

“It appears to be the same suspect in both incidents,” Fayetteville Police said Monday night.

Also, police told CBS North Carolina that Fayetteville detectives are looking into a possible connection to a First Citizens Bank robbery on November 10.

Pinehurst Police encourage anyone with information to call 910-295-3141.
