RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Duke Energy on Tuesday announced a 6.5 percent rate decrease for residential customers starting in December.
The decrease is in part thanks to lower fuel costs and is even greater for commercial and industrial customers, the company said.
The rate drop will save the average Duke residential customer nearly $7 a month, according to a news release from Meredith Archie with Duke Energy.
“On average, customers can power their homes and lives for less than $3.50 a day,” Archie said.
The drop in rates for commercial customers is 7.2 percent and is 7 percent for industry.
“Total fuel costs are declining due to a drop in commodity prices,” Archie said.
