RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Two people were found shot to death Friday morning inside a hotel near Crabtree Valley Mall, City of Raleigh officials said.
Authorities received a call regarding a shooting just before 5 a.m. at the America’s Best Value Inn, located at 3921 Arrow Drive.
Officers arriving on scene found April Lynn Holland, 22, and Dwayne Garvey, 27, dead in the hotel.
Police released a surveillance image of two men who police said are suspects in the case.
Someone inside the hotel at the time of the shooting called 911.
“I heard gunshots out in the hallway. We were sleeping and we just heard gunshots,” the caller said.
Blue Ridge Road at Crabtree Valley Road was shut down due to police activity at the hotel, which is off Glenwood Avenue, but it was reopened around 7:30 a.m.
Guests at the hotel said they woke up to a knock on their door and police told them that two people had been killed and asked if they had heard anything.
The hotel lobby is still blocked off with crime scene tape and police have had to escort anyone out who wants to leave, guests told CBS North Carolina.
There was nothing going on Thursday night to indicate there would be any trouble, hotel guest Xyavier Jay said.
“Last night we came in and it was real peaceful, there was barely anyone out. This would be the last thing you’d think would happen here early in the morning…waking up with police telling you there was a homicide and asking if you heard any shots or anything. Like I said, we heard nothing,” he said.
Police are asking anyone who might have information to call Raleigh CrimeStoppers at 919-834-HELP (919-834-4357). Callers can remain anonymous.
