Durham police charge man in fatal motel shooting

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) – Durham police have charged a 27-year-old man in connection with a November 27 shooting death an extended-stay motel in Durham.

Christopher Antwan Ward Jr., of Durham has been charged with murder in the death of George Beamon. Police said the shooting was not random.

The incident was reported just before 8 p.m. at Crossland Economy Studios in the 5000 block of N.C. Highway 55, Durham police said in an email.

Beamon, 50, was found suffering from a gunshot wound by responding officers.

Ward was injured during the incident.

No other information was immediately released.
