RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Hundreds of people gathered at WakeMed in Raleigh Monday night to celebrate good health and good health care.
For more than 30 years, the hospital system has been celebrating its Love Light tree lighting ceremony with families who have been treated at their hospitals.
This year, the Baxley’s got to light the tree, telling the story of their daughter Evie.
The now 10-month-old spent the first weeks of her life in WakeMed’s neonatal intensive care unit.
“The first couple of days she needed help with her breathing, but she eventually came off of oxygen and continued growing. And, after six weeks in NICU she was ready to go home,” said Ginger Baxley, Evie’s mom.
