NC woman dies after crash linked to ‘impairing substances,’ police say

GREENVILLE, N.C. (WNCT) – A woman died dead after a two SUVs collided on Arlington Boulevard in Greenville Saturday night.

At approximately 9:30 p.m., a 2016 Honda CRV was traveling south on Arlington Boulevard when it crossed over into oncoming traffic and collided with a northbound Lexus SUV near the intersection of Arlington Boulevard and Heart Drive.

All three people in the Honda CRV and all five people in the Lexus SUV were transported to Vidant Medical Center.

Sunday morning, La’osha Hopkins, 25, one of the passengers in the Honda, died.

The two other occupants of the Honda, Antavious Highsmith, 23, and a boy not named by police, remain hospitalized.

The occupants of the Lexus all suffered non-life-threatening injuries and have been treated and released from Vidant Medical Center, Greenville police said.

Greenville police say speed and impairing substances played a factor in the crash.
