RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A man Raleigh police have been searching for in connection with a double murder that occurred at a hotel near Crabtree Valley Mall has been arrested in Florida, police said.
Raleigh police had obtained an arrest warrant for Brandon Xavier Hill, 29, in the murder of Dwayne Garvey at the America’s Best Value Inn on Arrow Drive on Dec. 2. Hill had been on the run since a woman drove him during a police chase that ended in Durham County early Sunday morning.
Hill led officers on a chase that began on I-540 in Raleigh around 3 a.m. and ended when he jumped out of the vehicle in Durham County and ran, officials said.
Garvey and April Lynn Holland, 22, were found shot to death at the America’s Best Value Inn on Arrow Drive early Friday morning.
Meanwhile, Raleigh Police arrested the woman they said was driving Hill during the chase. Brittany Jenzell Hooks, 27, of Raleigh, was charged with felony speeding to elude.
Police already arrested the first suspect, 28-year-old Seaga Edward Gillard, on Saturday and charged him with one count of murder for the death of Holland. Gillard is being held at the Wake County Detention Center.
Hill was taken into custody overnight in Florida, police said. He was arrested without incident by members of the U.S. Marshals Service who had been searching for him.
Hill is being held in the Okaloosa County Jail.
