Durham police ask public to help identify man suspected in sexual assault

DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Police are asking the public to help them identify a man they suspect committed a Nov. 30 sexual assault and robbery in Durham.

A woman told police she was walking along Swift Avenue near Duke University Road just after 10 a.m. when a man grabbed her, pulled out a knife and took her into some nearby woods, where he sexually assaulted her and took her debit card, police said.

The attacker is described as a black man somewhere between his late teens and mid-20s, standing 5 feet 9 inches to 6 feet tall, police said.

He was clean shaven and wore jeans, a gray T-shirt and a black flight jacket with a hood, according to officials.
