Missing 77-year-old Wake County man found

UPDATE: The Silver Alert for Edward Laney McGee was canceled Thursday morning by the Wake County Sheriff’s Office.


RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Authorities are searching for a missing 77-year-old Wake County man who they believe may be endangered and a Silver Alert has been issued.

The N.C. Center for Missing Persons issued the alert.

The Wake County Sheriff’s Office is asking for assistance in location Edward Laney McGee, who was last seen near Penny Road and Ten-Ten Road in Raleigh.

McGee is described as a black male with short gray hair and brown eyes. He’s approximately 5 foot 10 and weighs 225 pounds. He is believed to be suffering from dementia or some other cognitive empairment.

He was last seen wearing jeans, gray tennis shoes, a gray and black hoodie and a light blue buttoned down collared shirt, authorities said.

Officials said that McGee was last seen heading west on Ten-Ten Road towards Kildaire Farms Road in Cary. He was driving a tan 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe with NC license tag “TISLOOPS.”

If anyone has information on the whereabouts of McGee they are asked to call R. Belshaw at the Wake County Sheriff’s Office at 919-856-6900.
