TSA stops 2 RDU passengers with loaded guns


RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The TSA stopped two passengers at RDU International who were attempting to bring loaded handguns onto planes this week.

On Wendesday, a handgun was discovered at a Transportation Security Administration Precheck Checkpoint. The second handgun was found at the Precheck Checkpoint Thursday morning. The guns were discovered in the passengers’ carry on baggage as it passed through the X-ray machine.

The TSA at RDU has seized 49 firearms in 2016.

In 2015, the total number of firearms found was 30.

TSA Precheck travelers caught with a gun will lose Precheck benefits for two years.
