WILLIAMSTON, N.C. (WNCT) — A search warrant obtained by WNCT indicates Jeffrey Ward admitted to investigators that he killed his estranged wife Dawnn Ward, 40, and her daughter, Taylor Carroll, 14, during a blackout. The document says Ward told police he, “screwed up and killed them during one of his blackout episodes where he was overtaken by demons.”
Ward says he originally went to McCaskey Road to talk to Ward but when they got into a verbal argument, he killed her outside and wrapped the bodies in the blanket. The document does not detail when or where Carroll was killed in relation to her mother.
After the interview, investigators returned to the home on McCaskey Road with a police K-9 officer to sweep the area. The bodies were found under a concrete cover and some dry vegetation, wrapped the blanket mentioned by Ward.
The document also lists multiple crimes potentially committed by Ward and his brother Jerrett Ward, who is accused of accessory to murder. Items recovered in Ward’s home link him to other crimes in the area of the murders.
