RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — A Raleigh man has been charged with felony death by motor vehicle, driving while impaired and other offenses as a result of a deadly October crash, according to police.
Christian Dewain Cosme, 24, of Raleigh, was driving a Dodge SUV east on Morgan Street about 3 a.m. Oct. 22 when he ran a red light at Blount Street, according to a police crash report.
He hit an Acura passenger car that was going through the intersection on Blount Street, the report states.
The driver of the Acura, Austin Reece Baucom of Raleigh, was killed, according to the report.
Baucom, a Raleigh native, studied at Wake Technical Community College, died just two days after he turned 23.
Other charges against Cosme include driving while license revoked, careless and reckless driving, failure to stop at a red light, possession of marijuana, possession of an open container of alcohol and a seat belt violation, according to a police news release.
