Goldsboro woman shot man in the head in front of Wayne County school, deputies say

GOLDSBORO, N.C. (WNCN) — A Goldsboro woman was arrested after a man was shot in the head in front of a Wayne County school late Friday night.


The incident was reported at 11:55 p.m. Friday in front of Eastern Wayne Middle School at 3518 Central Heights Road in Goldsboro, according to a statement from the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office.

Darrin Laroche Smith, 31, of the 1600 block of N. Heritage Street in Kinston suffered a gunshot wound to the back of the head during the shooting, officials said.

Goldsboro Police detectives were sent to help in the shooting investigation, deputies said.

“A suspect was quickly developed,” deputies said.

Terrena Sutton Graham, 32, of 104 Hines Drive in Goldsboro was charged with firing into an occupied vehicle and assault with a deadly weapon with the intent to kill/inflicting serious injury.

Deputies did not say what led to the shooting. Graham is being held in the Wayne County Jail on a $100,000 secured bond.

Smith, who was later transferred to Vidant Hospital in Greenville, is expected to recover from the gunshot wound, deputies said.
